Video: The Painting of Mana Land Crown
Mana Land Crown – Original Painting Available
Mana is a Hawaiian word that could be translated as spiritual power and often refers to the power of a place or element in nature. I painted this on a beautiful and powerful piece of land ,The Mana Farm, that is stewarded by teacher and humanitarian, Vanessa Stone, and a small community who farm and care for the land. Part of their mission to help young people incubate visions to be of service to the world. An annual children’s camp called Camp Mana takes place here. So both the land and the intentions with which it is held are very powerful.
I loved the textures of the tall grass and the pathways that ran through as if parting a sea of green. I wanted to capture the late afternoon sun. It was a very windy period and I was constantly innovating ways to keep my easel and painting from blowing away using tent stakes hanging weights and parachute chord. It was a wonderful place to paint and I alway enjoyed the hike up to and down from the crown!

“A painting is much less expensive than a bouquet of flowers. The painting lasts your whole life but you have to replace the flowers every week.”

Mana Land Crown – Limited Edition Giclee
I work with master print maker, Paul McCormack, who creates prints for Hawaii’s best known artists. I think I may be one of his most particular clients insisting on more and more proofs until the color match with the original is indistinguishable.
Printed on canvas and professionally mounted on 1.5″ gallery wrapped stretchers. The image is mirrored around the edge of the canvas making it ready to hang.
